Continuing yesterday’s thread, check out this piece by David Swanson, founder of AfterDowningStreet.org and press secretary for Kucinich for President in 2004. His new book, Daybreak: Undoing the Imperial Presidency and Forming a More Perfect Union, just came out yesterday and it looks like mandatory reading if you give a shit about the future of our country.
Since Congressman Kucinich posted an official endorsement by “Grandfather Twilight” on behalf of all “creatures of the forest” on his 2004 presidential campaign website (archive.org lost the pics, but you HAVE to click to see them here), I’m not sure I trust anyone associated with his press strategy.
Look: I wrote an article in the NY Post last year that said it didn’t really matter who won, all our choices had been screwed up by Bush. You might want to take another look at that. I said, and still believe, 2008 was the least critical election of my lifetime. (Which ones were more critical? The ones we lost.)
But Obama is not Bush’s third term, that’s ridiculous. He’s operating in a world of limited options, as all presidents do, but thanks to the last eight years, his are more limited than most.
